Rethink Baptism: 1 Peter 3:21

Since, I was a child, and while part of the congregation of denomination one, I was taught the first part of this scripture, but then the Holy Spirit convinced me to continue reading the passage. As an adult, I’ve have learned that many Christian friends still only recognize the first part of this verse. I am encouraged, because it is a good proof text for salvation taking place at the point of baptism. Therefore, the rest of the verse has not held the same significance or importance to many religious teachings.
What would Jesus have said if he had meant, “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved”? I believe he said what he meant and meant what he said. I believe Jesus! “He that believes not shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:16)

I strongly believe that if we are in Christ we are part of the New Creation and part of a community where old social paradigms of hierarchies and caste or class systems have no place in ministry. (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:28) Currently, with the Holy Spirit I am writing my 12th Bible Study. I enjoy volunteering at Elk Valley Christian school, guest appearances, traveling to teach God's word, doing research, and learning new things.
