Ezekiel 8:1 1And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the LORD GOD fell there upon me.
Ezekiel 33:22 22Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.
In the book of Ezekiel the hand of the Lord means the anointing. Sometimes, he said that it was strong upon him while other times Ezekiel stated that the anointing was sufficient. Bless the Lord! Sometimes, we can have an anointing that is adequate and sometimes we can have an experience that is extraordinary. The Holy Spirit pours out on us as God desires. God knows each situation that we will face and He provides exactly how much anointing we will need. For an example, let’s turn over in our Bibles to Ezekiel chapter 8. In the first verse, Ezekiel tells us exactly when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. That’s Amazing!
Many of us can tell the exact date and time we were saved, but some of us can’t! I know I was saved as a young child, but I know my calling to teach the sick did not come until after I was healed. On the other hand, Ezekiel had already been called to the office of the profit, but here the Holy Spirit is manifested upon him. When we are saved and baptized we are anointed, but “the hand of God” pours out as He desires.
We also can have an anointing in the morning, in the afternoon, but not in the evening. We do not tell God what to do and when to do it. For example, turn with me to chapter 33 and verse 22 of Ezekiel. Here we find that he received an anointing in the evening. The anointing opened his mouth, but nothing could come out. You see, a slave had escaped and was coming to him and God filled Ezekiel with the knowledge to give to that special person. On the other hand, I once read an account about a Pentecostal preacher who could not say a word and could only lift her arms to God! This preacher was preaching a revival and the first night she stopped in mid- sentence. Then three days later she picked up exactly where she left off. Her preaching begin again in mid-sentence! For three nights she stood with her mouth willing to preach and her arms raised to Heaven, but no words would come out. This incident made the headlines of the newspapers in St. Louis Missouri. I believe it was in the 1950’s. In the space provided, record an instance that happened in your life, where you just had nothing to say.
I’m a member of Hissom Tabernacle Church of the Nazarene. The church is located in the heart of Charleston, WV. I’m so glad that God lead me to a church where all the members love to study God’s word. The members are really good about giving their testimonies and praise reports. The church was established in the 1934. It’s mission is truly to serve others. Monday through Friday and Wednesday nights, we serve meals to the homeless. We also have an open food pantry every Tuesday and it serves between 100 to 200 families a week. Then, we have a free clothing closet open Monday through Friday! In addition, I am currently serving as the Youth Pastor. The church allows me to volunteer in all the above areas; plus, I’m granted the following privileges: to lead the teenagers quartet, teach Wednesday night Bible studies, and be apart of the praise team. Finally, I also have 14 Bible Study books published and are available for purchase on Amazon.com.
A portion of the profits from each book sold goes to fill the churches food pantry and feed the homeless.
