Warnings for the church

I would like for you to turn in your Bible to second John chapter 1. To give you a little background information: John was writing a letter to a lady that was having church in her home. Which makes the lady the pastor. Now, I found this out by studying for myself and I certainly didn’t hear it from the churches of my upbringing. That John was writing to her and us to warn us about antichrist and in this case all false teaching.

He tells her not do you entertain them.

First John verse 5 says do not greet them. Do not be rude to them but do not rejoice in their presence. Now, this does not mean if they’re thirsty do not give them drink or if they’re hungry not to feed them. This means do not give them the pool pit or let them to come spiritual leaders in your church. We are also not supposed to give them money for their ministries, because we would also be false teachers.

Read the scripture:

Those that do not continue in the word and in the will of God do you not have the father. That’s not my words that’s what we just read. That’s serious talk. We need to be confessed up. When we sin we need to be quick to Warren to the throne room of grace and ask for forgiveness. Scripture says that he will forgive and forget. Not forget like we forget God casts our sin as far as East will go on the west.

John is saying getting involved with false doctrine can cost you your reward. In verse nine to go on ahead means that what is being preached or taught is not the truth or is a stretch of the truth. Not the truth is opposite of the gospel. Opposite of the truth is false doctrine . John’s Gospel speaks a lot about abiding in Christ. To have fellowship with Christ. John is saying here if you go on ahead you do not have fellowship with Christ. When you are participating in heresy you are abandoning gospel gospel.

Call in Galatians tells us that even an angel that comes that preaches another gospel must be acursed. Accursed in the Old Testament was unclean. They were shunned from the community and from the church.

I strongly believe that if we are in Christ we are part of the New Creation and part of a community where old social paradigms of hierarchies and caste or class systems have no place in ministry. (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:28) Currently, with the Holy Spirit I am writing my 12th Bible Study. I enjoy volunteering at Elk Valley Christian school, guest appearances, traveling to teach God's word, doing research, and learning new things.
