A camel can be described as brown in color. They have even toes which provides them with great balance. Camels have great fat storage in their humps. They can travel long distances, because they can access the fat storage for survival. The most common camels in the bible were one humped. One humped camels inhabit the land of the Middle East. In fact, the camel is a prized position. It’s believed that camels were the first animal employed by humans.
The use of the camel is vastly spread-out in the Bible. We even use camels today!
Today, we still use camels for transportation and raise them on many farms. In the days of Abraham, camels made travel possible for God’s people, because they could go days without eating and drinking. They carried people and their luggage for a hundred miles a day. Biblical people employed camels for other reasons also. For example, camels were raised like cattle, used for food and clothing, and given as gifts for special occasions. Finally, camels were ridden into battle. They were also a social status symbol. Much like our automobiles.

I strongly believe that if we are in Christ we are part of the New Creation and part of a community where old social paradigms of hierarchies and caste or class systems have no place in ministry. (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:28) Currently, with the Holy Spirit I am writing my 12th Bible Study. I enjoy volunteering at Elk Valley Christian school, guest appearances, traveling to teach God's word, doing research, and learning new things.
