What is a profession of faith?
It is saying with your mouth that you believe in Jesus, and accept him as your sacrifice for sin!
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Jesus warned that many who think they are saved because of a profession will find out some day that they were never His at all: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Matthew 7:21–23). So simply professing faith in Jesus, even when the profession is accompanied by good works, does not guarantee salvation. There must be repentance of sin.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
If you are saved then you have left your old ways and now you do the ways of the Lord.
Proverbs 28:13
Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
This scripture is for the one that has backslidden :
Acts 3:19
Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted
Scripture calls us to be Holy
1 Peter 1:15-16
15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
What does it mean to be holy?
Scripture also calls us to make others disciples of the Lord.
Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Being a Christian is being a disciple! Scripture tells us to take up our cross and follow him.
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
Isn’t this what Jesus‘s disciples did? Aren’t they placed in the Bible for us to have as examples? Yes! People have been taught a delusion.
Scripture requires that children are God or Christians have a certain lifestyle, and this is called Holiness.
There is a false teaching that says: I just have to say the prayer of repentance and I will get this big inheritance.
If this were so, then, why did Jesus have to come and die a horrible death on the cross?
This is the same as saying, I am a Christian, but my lifestyle does not match what the scripture calls a Christian.
